Event Setup for Community STEM Day at Collins Aerospace in Cedar Rapids, Iowa

That’s why we were thrilled to provide expert setup services for the annual Community STEM Day, hosted by the Southeast Iowa STEM Region and Collins Aerospace. This exciting event, taking place on July 17, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Collins Aerospace (400 Collins Road NE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52498), brings families, students, and STEM enthusiasts together for a day of hands-on learning and exploration.
Our Role in the Setup
Big Ten Rentals handled the expert setup to create a welcoming and functional space for exhibitors and attendees. We provided a range of high-quality rental items tailored to the event’s needs, ensuring ample coverage for the farmer’s market-style fair, workshops, and interactive exhibits. Here’s a detailed list of the items we supplied:

- 80′ x 150′ Legend Rope and Pole Tent: A massive main tent to cover large exhibit areas, protecting attendees and activities from the elements while accommodating crowds for robotics demos and helicopter displays.
- 80′ x 90′ Legend Rope and Pole Tent: Ideal for additional fair space, providing shade and structure for multiple booths and family-friendly zones.
- (2) 10′ x 40′ Frame Tents: Versatile, smaller tents for targeted workshop areas, such as soldering or rover programming sessions.
- 30′ x 75′ Frame Tent: Perfect for group activities or overflow seating, ensuring flexibility in layout.
- Lighting:
- Edison Lights: String lights to create a vibrant, engaging atmosphere, illuminating exhibits and pathways for safe navigation during the event.
- Tables and Chairs for Hands-On Activities:
- (30) Picnic Tables: Sturdy outdoor seating for families to relax, eat, or participate in casual STEM explorations.
- (140) 8′ x 30″ Tables: Long tables for setting up interactive stations, workshops like building prosthetic hands or bikes, and exhibitor displays.
- (380) Black Chairs: Comfortable seating to pair with tables, supporting extended engagement in activities for attendees of all ages.
- Generators for Power Supply:
- (2) 2000-Watt Generators: Reliable power sources for smaller exhibits, lighting, and electronic demos like gaming or robotics.
- 60K Generator: High-capacity unit to handle the event’s overall electrical needs, ensuring uninterrupted operation for high-tech simulations and equipment.
